Abano appoints investment banker as director

Abano Healthcare Group has appointed Mike Allen as a director, effective from March 1, 2019.

Mr Allen is an experienced director with a background in investment banking and general management in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. He is a director on several New Zealand and international companies including Tainui Group Holdings, China Construction Bank and Johnston’s Coachlines and is chairman of Investore Property.

Mr Allen was formerly head of Westpac Institutional Bank and led mergers and acquisitions at Southpac Corporation. He is a chartered fellow of the Institute of Directors.

Mr Allen will become chairman of Abano’s risk assurance and audit committee.

Mr Allen has been appointed by the other Abano directors, as permitted under Abano’s constitution. He will hold office until Abano’s 2019 annual meeting at which time he will offer himself for election by shareholders. The board has determined that he will be an independent director.
