Expect a higher inflation rate but the OCR could still be cut

Petrol prices, rising rates and the lower kiwi are the major culprits

Inflation likely spiked higher in the September quarter but that was probably due to one-off factors such as higher petrol prices.

Economists expect the Consumers Price Index rose anywhere from 0.6-0.8%, well above the Reserve Bank’s forecast of 0.4%.
