Exports outstrip imports for fourth month

Increased exports to China offset declines to Australia and the European Union.

The seasonal surge in exports produced a merchandise trade surplus of $365 million in June – the fourth month in a row.

Stats NZ said the actual value of all goods exports rose $136m, or 2.8%, over a year earlier to reach $5.0 billion.

Imports fell $515m, or 10%, to $4.6b compared with June
