GD1 leads UBCO's $5.5m round

The raise helps the startup 'wrap up some loose ends' with its US subsidiary.

Tauranga-based electric utility bike maker Ubco has closed a $5.51 million series B funding round led by NZ-based venture capital fund GD1 and investors through Kiwi crowdfunder Snowball Effect.

GD1 has invested a total of $US2.12m ($3.33m) into Ubco, while a combination of wholesale and retail
