McDermott receives top economics honour

NZIER award describes him as the country’s foremost macro-economist.

The NZIER has presented its annual economics award to former Reserve Bank chief economist and assistant governor Dr John McDermott, now executive director of Motu Economic and Public Policy Research and an NBR columnist.

The honour is considered the New Zealand equivalent of the Nobel economics
