Meat industry objects to post-Brexit quota split as 'inflexible'

The NZ Meat Industry Association says the proposal will restrict the ability of exporters to respond to market conditions.

The first signs of trouble for New Zealand in negotiating post-Brexit free-trade agreements with the UK and the EU have come in proposals to split meat import quotas.

The UK and the EU are proposing a 50-50 split in the World Trade Organisation-approved tariff-free quotas.
