Standalone house consents decline as multi-unit dwellings ramp up

A record 6059 new townhouses, flats and units that were consented, along with 3825 apartments.

Standalone houses remain at the core of the residential building boom but their number is declining at the expense of multi-unit dwellings.

Statistics NZ’s latest annual building consent figures to September show the 20,692 issued for single dwellings is down 2.4% in the past 12 months,
