The Doro PhoneEasy 410 gsm – a handset specifically designed for those with reduced hearing or sight or those with limited fine motor skills - will be released by TelstraClear this week.
It will be the first time the model has been available in New Zealand, TelstraClear said.
The phone, designed by Swedish company Doro, is internationally recognised for a unique design that focuses on providing a mobile phone with functionality and user-friendliness for senior citizens.
It will be available in from December 1.
TelstraClear’s Mobile Product manager Susannah Redstone said the Doro would help those who struggle with other phones' small keypads, hard-to-read fonts and complicated functionality.
Individual letters and numbers on the keypad and screen are up to three times larger than those found on most other mobiles, making incoming messages clearer to read and writing messages much easier.
Emergency button
The Doro PhoneEasy 410 gsm also has a strong safety aspect with a dedicated emergency button.
When this button is pressed and held for a few seconds, the phone will initiate a call and text to up to four contacts. In the event that someone is in a situation where they need non-emergency assistance from a carer or friend, they don’t need the added stress of trying to find the right contact name in a phonebook.
The Doro PhoneEasy 410 gsm is available from TelstraClear retail stores in Christchurch and Wellington, or www.tesltraclearshop.co.nz for $249.
