Gabrielle Purchas (née Hegarty) has been appointed as the first ever Managing Director to oversee WooHoo’s New Zealand operations. This will allow founder and CEO, Cilla Hegarty, to relocate to London and focus on growing the business. WooHoo’s expansion into the UK, where they operate as WooHoo.Tax, began in 2015.

As Managing Director, Purchas plans to enhance the WooHoo brand and service offerings. Earlier this year WooHoo launched EasyGiving, a platform to facilitate charity donations and receipting.

Purchas, daughter of founder Cilla Hegarty, returned to New Zealand last year following eight years living and working in Australia. Whilst in Australia, Purchas held a variety of management roles liaising with government departments in corrections and energy networks. With WooHoo being a family-owned business, a generational transition is important to ensure the same vision and enthusiasm for making tax affairs fast, fair, and friendly remains at the forefront of the business.

Originally from Christchurch, Purchas holds a BA from the University of Canterbury and a BA (Hons) from Victoria University of Wellington. This year she graduates with an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management in New South Wales, Australia.
