John Smith collection key part of Classic Fighters

The late John Smith’s collection of World War II aircraft originated in the early 1950s when he towed surplus warplanes to his farm in Mapua, near Nelson. Many others sold in tenders by the Government Stores Board ended up as melted down scrap metal.
