2degrees is offering some customers calls and texts to Australia at NZ domestic rates, starting today.
Those on a "Pay Monthly" contract or using a premium "Prepay Plus Combo" deal will qualify for the new deal.
At its most recent customer update, in August last year, 2degrees said 100,000 of its 1 million customers were on contract plans.
The carrier has not said how many of its 900,000 pre-pay customers are on "Plus" plans, which add frills such as carryover minutes.
Statistics NZ says about 800,000 people born in New Zealand live overseas, with Australia home to around 75% of the diaspora.
