2degrees tells customers to restart phones after nationwide outage

Service restored. UPDATED.

Sat, 30 Jul 2016

2degrees is advising customers to switch their phone off and on, or flight mode off and on, if they are having still having problems following a catastrophic outage last night.

The telco lost voice and text service nationwide, and its website was down, between approximately 10pm and 11pm last night.

The company has yet to explain the outage, and did not immediately respond to NBR's query.

UPDATE: 2degrees spokeswoman Lucy Reed says: "We had an issue with a piece of hardware that meant customers were not able to make or receive calls or texts. Emergency calls weren’t impacted and data was also operating as usual. Once we isolated the equipment, full services resumed. We updated our website and posted via Facebook, apologising to our customers and thanking them for bearing with us."
