.99 cemented its position as a power player at Friday night’s RSVP and Nexus Awards, as it took out the Grand Prix.
The agency – now viewed as more than just the retail arm of Colenso BBDO – won big for its Nothing to Hide campaign for Air New Zealand.
The campaign won from a record number of entries, this year in excess of 250.
Judges said the unique approach helped Air New Zealand hold its own in the face of fluctuating fuel prices, forecasted global revenue loss for the industry, swine flu and increased competition in the domestic market.
The campaign marked a raised brand profile with international travellers and it helped the airline secure market share for domestic business.
It’s possibly the only safety video in existence that passengers actually pay attention to.
The campaign started as a print ad and quickly spiralled to cover social media and TV.
Predictably, Affinity ID won the Nexus Supreme award for Progressive Enterprises, with Onecard “mySpecials”.

The ceremony outdid last year’s effort, with Te Radar hosting in a geisha costume and full face paint, not to mention a fetching socks ‘n’ sandals combo.
Acrobats, dancers, an orchestra and antics by champion karate block chopper Mark Stewart kept the 500-strong crowd entertained.
