The Rodney district's dream of SuperCity independence may have been crushed by Rodney Hide.

But sentimental followers of NAG (Northern Action Group) can still collect a momento of the freedom campaign.

The freedom figher's roadside sign is now up for sale on TradeMe, with bidding raging up to $56 when Private Bin checked in.

It does look a little bit like it has been literally crushed by the local government minister, or perhaps someone just stood on it by mistake.

Banish such fascist thoughts. The tear in the sign is in fact a symbolic expression "of the hearts of people who want to protect something good from cultural genocide, and who will not lay down defeated"

There are five more thing the tear is symbolic of, but Private Bin zoned out before it finished reading the page.

Buyer must pick up.
