AGA hires new accident and health specialist

Global travel insurer boosts local accident and health team with new appointments.

Wed, 28 Oct 2015

Allianz Global Assistance has hired Accident and Health guru Chantal Tawhai, boosting its corporate offering to the travel industry at a time of significant growth for the company.

Moving from ACE Insurance where she account managed for its Accident and Health lines, Ms Tawhai brings with her a unique depth of knowledge and understanding of broker requirements.

Led by Allianz Global Assistance Chief Sales Officer, Will Ashcroft, the local Accident and Health team is formed of five sales consultants, including experienced Accident and Health underwriter, Andrew Tarr.

Mr Ashcroft is thrilled to welcome Chantal into the team. “Our local sales team is committed to providing quality service to our partners and customers and we are proud to guarantee a one working day turnaround (24 hours) for all incoming underwriting enquiries,” he says. “Chantal’s experience will greatly complement our offering, allowing us to provide additional service to our corporate clients.”

This appointment comes at a time of significant local growth and development for the company, says Allianz Global Assistance New Zealand chief executive officer Phil Hibbert.

“Since Allianz Global Assistance first entered the New Zealand market five years ago, it’s seen steady and significant year on year growth. As New Zealand’s largest travel insurer, we’ve supported this growth by bolstering our team in the last year to a total head count of 57, all dedicated to travel insurance, and have plans to grow this even further. Our unique advantage is that all aspects of the Accident and Health sales, service, claims and 24/7 emergency assistance, is done in New Zealand”

AGA expects to make further appointments and announcements regarding its corporate travel offering in the coming months.
