AMI has secured the naming rights at Christchurch's new stadium.
Canterbury earthquake recovery minister Gerry Brownlee confirms insurer AMI was the naming-rights sponsor for the new $30 million venue.
"AMI's sponsorship and continued backing of sport and entertainment in Christchurch is welcome, especially as the future of the quake-damaged AMI Stadium remains in question," he said.
AMI was bailed out by the government late last year with AIG insurance group buying its “good assets” and the government taking over the ailing company’s earthquake liabilities.
The stadium, at the former Rugby League Park, was built in under 100 days. It replaces the former AMI stadium in Christchurch, which was badly damaged by the Christchurch earthquake.
More than 400 people have clocked 18,000 hours building it since construction began on December 20.
Brownlee will officially open the stadium tomorrow night, as the Crusaders play their first match at the new stadium against South Africa's Cheetahs in the city's first Super Rugby game since May 2010.
