Jane Stanley is the company’s new group strategy director, replacing Guy Cousins, who left in April to become managing partner of Naked Communciations.
Ms Stanley will act as group head of strategy for the agency across its two specialist business units, PHDiQ and Spark PR & Activate.
Nicky Greville, Spark’s existing media director, has been promoted to strategy director, to act as 2-i-c, a newly created role.
“We are building a separate planning team. It’s building our capability but we already have good strategists within the business,” SparkGroup ceo Louise Bond says.
Ms Stanley joins Spark from Melbourne-based creative agency Clemenger Harvey Edge, where she was instrumental in recently winning GE Capital and City of Melbourne through-the-line accounts.
She previously worked for M&C Saatchi in Australia, working on brand planning and strategy.
Before moving Down Under, City University of London educated Ms Stanley planned a number of award-winning European campaigns for the likes of Diageo, Unilever and T-Mobile.
“My Kiwi husband and I always planned to return to New Zealand. Accepting the role has made this plan a reality and I can’t wait to get among the creative force and spirit of Spark’s well established team,” she says.
Nicky Greville, whose work with Unilever and New Zealand Lotteries was recognised at this year’s CAANZ Media Awards where Spark PHD scooped up five golds and two silvers, has been with the agency for five years – the last two as media director.
Ms Bond says the Spark Group, which employs 85, is growing. “Business is very good but it’s not an easy year.”
Recent wins include the ANZ account for Australasia, which led it to give up the much smaller BNZ account.
