In a move reflective of the changing media market, both APN and MediaWorks say they will merge their sales teams.

MediaWorks which has TV, radio and digital assets says the merger will better enable advertisers.

The change will see Paul Hancox appointed to the newly created role of commercial director, MediaWorks Radio & TV.

MediaWorks’ TV and interactive counterparts, are led by Nicole Jones and Graeme Underwood respectively.

MediaWorks Radio chief executive Wendy Palmer says the new structure is a first in the New Zealand market.

“No other media company can offer clients a 360 degree response involving brands such as Jono and Ben on TV3 and The Rock, The Edge TV, and The Block NZ.”

Meanwhile, APN which owns the NZ Herald, GrabOne and several radio brands under TRN says it will create an advertising planning and sales function – APN CMS (Collaborative Media Solutions).

It says the system will be client focused and provide media agnostic solutions.

"APN CMS will differentiate from the rest of the market by working collaboratively with any number of media partners such as television in order to satisfy the client brief."

Former Oxygen Media director Nina Bialostocki will lead the effort in the role of general manager collaborative media solutions.

Ms Bialostocki will start on June 1.
