Apple says it sold more than 10 million units of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus during the new models' first three days on sale (Friday, Saturday and Sunday just gone), the company said in a statement.
The total was a record, and ahead of the 9 million sold by the iPhone 5s and 5c during their first weeken on sale in October last year.
Analysts had been expecting iPhone 6/6Plus sales around the 6.5 million mark, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The new models go onsale in NZ this Friday.
