Confirms March 23 NZ release.
In a statement this morning, Apple said it had sold three million new iPads sold since the new model was launch four days ago on March 16.
The company says that makes the new model - simply called the iPad - its fastest selling tablet ever.
The new iPad was released in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, UK and the US Virgin Islands last Friday.
It will be available in 24 more countries, including New Zealand, starting at 8:00 am local time on Friday, March 23 through the Apple Online Store, Apple’s retail stores and selected resellers.
During the fourth quarter of 2011, Apple sold a total of 15.4 million iPads - a big increase over the third quarter's 11.1 million - but not enough to stop its market share dropping from 61.5% to 54.7% as Google Android-based tablets grew faster.
