Auckland businessman bailed on sex and drug charges, faces possible 10-year jail term

An Auckland businessman won bail in the Auckland District court yesterday afternoon after being arrested on Tuesday on sex and drug offences, then held on remand for two nights.
The arrest was made after police executed search warrants.
The man’s name and the name of his business are suppressed.
Bail conditions included a requirement to stay at an address outside of Auckland, an order not to apply for travel documents, and an order to use the internet for email only. The judge granted police leave to monitor the man’s internet use.
Police opposed bail.
The man, who has yet to enter a plea, faces two charges.
One is for a sex offence with a maximum prison term of 10 years.
The other is a drugs offence with a maximum penalty of six months' prison.
