Australia’s economic growth, as measured by real GDP, slowed down to 0.2% in the September quarter, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said.
This compared with an downwardly revised growth figure of 1.1% in the June quarter. Over the year to September, GDP rose 2.7%, the bureau said.
Market forecasts were for a September quarter growth figure of 0.4%, for an annual seasonally adjusted growth of 3.4%.
The Australian dollar dropped by about half a U.S. cent on the news to around 96USc.
