Independent tourism sector director and advisor Geoff Burns has been appointed as the new chair of Bachcare Limited.
Independent tourism sector director and advisor Geoff Burns has been appointed as the new chair of Bachcare Limited. Bachcare is New Zealand’s leading full-service holiday home rental company and manages over 1,100 holiday homes throughout New Zealand. Bachcare has seen double digit growth since starting in 2003, and over the past three years has seen that growth explode to 50% annually.
Now a significant player in the tourism and accommodation sectors, hosting over 75,000 guests annually, Geoff’s appointment signals a firm commitment to continue the growth of Bachcare in the burgeoning shared economy and accommodation space.
Mr Burns’ current governance roles include chair of The Rees Limited, a luxury hotel and apartments in Queenstown, director of award winning Magic Memories Limited, the world's leading full service photographic partner to visitor attractions and director of Brand Tourism company Discovery Partners.
He has held senior executive and non-executive roles with Air New Zealand, Budget Rent a Car, and the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand. He has extensive knowledge of many private, local and central government tourism projects.
Mr Burns holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago University and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. He mentors many innovative start-ups and growing tourism and export businesses and consults on a range of planning and feasibility studies.
