BNZ appoints Phil Bennett to head commercial property operations
BNZ has appointed Phil Bennett as head of property finance. Mr Bennett has undertaken the role in an acting capacity since July this year.
BNZ director Partners, Anthony Healy, says Mr Bennett brings a strong combination of commercial acumen and leadership capability to the bank’s commercial property operations.
“Phil is a highly experienced commercial banker with a strong track record leading high performing teams within the property and business sectors.
“His wealth of banking experience coupled with his passion for partnering with businesses to achieve optimum results,will deliver huge value to our commercial property customers as they navigate both the upcoming opportunities and challenges in this sector such as meeting the demand for residential property in Auckland and the Christchurch rebuild.”
A career banker, Mr Bennett performed retail and commercial banking roles at Westpac before joining BNZ in 2000. Phil was a foundation member of BNZ’s property finance unit formed in 2001and held the role of regional manager property for the lower North Island. For the past five years, Mr Bennett has held the position of managing partner at BNZ’s Wellington Partners business, where he led a team of 60 assisting Wellington-based business clients within the property, commercial business and private banking sectors.
Mr Bennett says he’s looking forward to the new opportunities that working with commercial property clients will bring.
