Former Fisher&Paykel managing director John Bongard has been appointed as a director of Tourism Holdings, the company announced today.
Mr Bongard spent 36 years with Fisher&Paykel but stepped down last year to concentrate on a battle with prostate cancer.
"Over the past six months John has been fortunate to have been able to positively address the health issues which became prominent in 2009," said Tourism Holdings chairman Keith Smith.
Mr Bongard brought a wealth of skills, experience and a passion for New Zealand that would benefit the company, Mr Smith said.
Stock exchange-listed Tourism Holdings operates holiday rental vehicles in Australia and New Zealand under the Maui, Britz, Backpacker and Explore More Brands. The majority of our rental vehicles are manufactured by Tourism Holding's company CI Munro.
It also operates Kiwi Experience and the Discover Waitomo group and in Fiji Tourist Transport Fiji, Feejee Experience and Great Sights.
Mr Bongard is also a director of Netball New Zealand and is involved in the New Zealand Foundation focussed on assisting South Auckland youth.
