Hotels open court challenge on council rates
Ateed targeted rate illegally imposed, accommodation providers say.
Auckland Council’s imposition of a targeted rate on accommodation providers, burdening them with $14 million of costs, was unreasonable, arbitrary and failed to comply with its own legal obligations, hotel and motel owners say.
The rate is the subject of a week-long judicial review hearing
