KiwiSaver gender gap remains stubbornly wide
Latest report shows strong returns, but women’s savings still lag men’s by a significant margin.
The widest gaps among KiwiSaver members are between men and women in their 40s and 50s, and those approaching 65.
The Retirement Commission has called for policy tweaks to combat a persistent gap in retirement savings between men and women.
It today published the latest report from actuaries Melville Jessup Weaver, which examined the accounts of more than 3.2 million KiwiSaver members at the end of 2024.
