Markets dare to hope the worst is over

Equities continue gains as data points to virus rampage slowing.

There was a bullish tone to trading on overseas markets overnight as shares in cruise ship company Carnival, one of the companies most affected by Covid-19, soared 22% on the London Stock Exchange.

The UK benchmark FTSE100 rose 2.2% to close at 5704, while the S&P500 was up 1% by early afternoon
