Meridian, Rio Tinto at odds over smelter wind-down

UPDATE: Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto has declined to comment on suggestions it is open to a staged-exit from its New Zealand smelter operations at Tiwai Point.
A spokesperson for the company said its discussions with NZX-listed power giant Meridian Energy in relation to its contracts
