CAANZ is to elect a new chair tonight at its board meeting.
The organisation has been without a president since DraftFCB CEO Bryan Crawford resigned earlier this year at its AGM.
It’s also without a vice president, as Y&R CEO Jon Ramage has resigned.
Happily, the board has been blessed with some incoming talent – including Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Nicky Bell and Colenso BBDO managing director Nick Garrett, as well as Mitchell & Partners managing director Philip O’Neil and Clemenger BBDO/AIM Proximity finance director Mike Higgins.
Aside from the above, the board includes: DDB Group CEO Sandy Moore; DraftFCB Media managing director Derek Lindsay; Harvey Cameron managing director Neil Cameron; Starcom New Zealand CEO Alistair Jamieson; Mr Smith media director Ron Sneddon; and Mango Communications managing director Claudia Macdonald.
CAANZ CEO Rick Osborne confirmed the impending election.
“Following the resignation of Bryan Crawford and Jon Ramage at the recent AGM, board members will elect a new president and vice president at the 11 November board meeting.
“A plume of white smoke rising from the roof of 60 Parnell Road will signal that a new president and vice president have been elected.”
Mr Osborne said CAANZ members wanted increased flexibility.
“A smaller more nimble board is the result of feedback from CAANZ members, who felt that the board needed greater a strategic focus in dealing with the opportunities and challenges likely to confront the industry over the next five years.”
Ad Hoc’s putting its money on Uncle Sandy to take out the honours.
