Canterbury small and medium enterprises will be shouted free entry to a business mentoring programme, Minister for Economic Development Gerry Brownlee announced today.

“There are more than 300 experienced volunteer business mentors standing by throughout the Canterbury region to provide guidance to small-to-medium business people as they get back on their feet after the quake,” he said.

Business Mentors New Zealand has agreed to waive the usual $100 (plus GST) registration fee for mentoring.

The months ahead will potentially be the toughest many business people had experienced, Mr Brownlee said.

“It is important that business people know they are not alone and that experienced help is at hand.”

Today’s announcement will add to the government’s wider earthquake recovery package, which includes a wage subsidy scheme.
