Big British livestock feed supplements maker Carr's Milling Industries may consider setting up a factory in New Zealand after good sales of its molasses-based blocks here.
"Carr's is also making progress overseas, having made its first animal feed sales to New Zealand, a possible precursor to setting up a factory Down Under," the Times newspaper in London reported.
The company's chief executive Chris Holmes yesterday said the group was "encouraged" by early sales of its Crystalyx feed blocks in New Zealand.
Its processed blocks -- containing molasses from Florida and Cuba -- have been promoted in New Zealand by Summit-Quinphos nutritional products manager Jackie Aveling, who said the blocks had been reformulated the product to balance the deficiencies in New Zealand pastoral systems.
The company has said the blocks activate protozoa in the rumen, stimulating intake and digestibility so that cows can process more food and eat more.
