Carrington joins Peppers network
Peppers has added The Carrington Resort – a leading golf resort, vineyard and conference centre on the Karikari Peninsula – to its network of luxury retreats. To be known as Peppers Carrington Resort, it will be the third addition to the network this year after Peppers Parehua Martinborough and Peppers Awaroa Lodge.

The Carrington Resort is set in the middle of the Carrington Farms Estate, a 3000-acre ecologically planned property of private virgin beaches, restored natural wetlands, a Black Angus stud farm and Karikari Estate - the country’s northernmost winery.

The 6417m 18-hole championship golf course, located between sweeping ocean views to the north and east, and hillside vineyards of Karikari Estate to the south was designed by Matt Dye. It has one of the longest par 5s in New Zealand of 569m and one of the shortest par 3s at 113m over water. 

Carrington Resort offers 10 lodge rooms and 14 three-bedroom villas. Guests can choose from a fine dining restaurant at Carrington Restaurant & Bar or a café at the winery.

Other facilities include a library, two tennis courts, heated infinity pool and gym, canoes, shooting skeet range, 4km of private white sand beach and three three helipads. exist within the resort complex for guests or groups wishing to make a grand entrance. The conference and event facilities cater for up to 100 people while off-site activity options include kayaking, fishing charters and 4WD tours. The Peppers brand is managed by the Mantra Group.

Cathay adds Hyderabad gateway to India
Cathay Pacific Airways will extend its presence in India with a new four-times-weekly service between Hong Kong and Hyderabad, India’s fourth most populous city and an important hub for the technology and pharmaceutical industries. The new service complements the airline’s existing passenger services to Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai and will further boost both leisure and business travel between Hong Kong and India.

The new Hyderabad service commences on Dec 1 and will be operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, departing from Hong Kong every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. The schedule will allow convenient connections from Auckland with passengers able to depart Auckland at 2.35pm, arriving Hong Kong at 9pm and then connecting to the flight to Hyderabad at 10.35pm, arriving at 2.05am the following day. Special fares from Auckland to all of Cathay’s Indian destinations, including Hyderabad, start from $1675.00 plus taxes of $96 are available until Oct 2.

Going solo with Silversea
Fares for single travellers are 10-50% above double occupancy fares on selected Silversea voyages for the remainder of 2012 and 2013. The choice ranges from 7-22 day sailings in the Mediterranean, Asia Pacific, South America, the Caribbean or South Africa. Ships range from the 147-suite Silver Cloud or Silver Wind, the 191-suite Silver Shadow or Silver Whisper to the 270-suite flagship Silver Spirit.

Solo savings are also available on selected voyages on the expedition vessel Silver Explorer. A 22-day sailing on Silver Explorer from Ushuaia, Argentina, to Cape Town in South Africa in March 2013 has all-inclusive solo saving fares from $US11,449.

Closer to home, Silver Shadow is offering a seven-day round trip from Singapore to Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia for $US4399 for solo travellers, with additional onboard spending credits of $US250 per suite to spend on shore excursions, spa treatments or in the ship’s boutique. Discover Krabi’s eco attractions 
Set along southern Thailand’s Andaman Coast, Krabi has a range of attractions and national parks that include Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta. Explore the wildlife sanctuary, sea caves, coral reefs and marine life around the coast. It also has many secluded beaches, accessible only by long tail boats.
