Chinese motor vehicle Zhejiang Geely Holding is backing up its ownership of Sweden’s Volvo Car with a $US3.24 billion stake in its truck and bus-making operation.

Geely says it has reached an agreement with Cevian Capital to acquire its entire 8.2% equity stake and 15.6% voting rights in Volvo,
