New TV channel Choice TV has signed its first sponsors and advertisers ahead of its launch this Saturday.
Choice TV will be on Freeview and after it launches mid-year, the Sky TV-TVNZ joint venture igloo (but not Sky TV itself).
The new channel features lifestyle programming on weekdays, and more broad-based entertainment shows on weekends.
Each evening is themed, with Monday devoted to travel shows, Tuesday to property and design and so on.
General manager Alex Breingan told NBR JetStar had been signed as a major run-of-station advertiser.
Refresh Renovations is sponsoring the Tuesday property line-up.
Holden ads will appear around the great outdoors-themed fishing and motoring shows on Wednesday evenings.
A sponsor for Thursday’s food night is expected to be finalised on Monday.
Yates will be the sponsor of the Choice TV’s Home and Garden themed Friday evening.
Mr Breingan, who has a background as a UK and NZ radio announcer, and as manager of Sky TV’s Food TV and Living Channel, said Choice TV was targeting 25 to 54 year-olds, with a slight female skew.
Top Shelf Productions, responsible for a string of shows screening on TVNZ and TV3, including Target, What’s Really In Our Food? Immigrant Nation, Frontier of Dreams and Media 7, is a major shareholder.
And Choice TV is housed at Top Shelf's Mt Eden, Auckland, headquarters. However, it will operate independently and not feature any shows created by its owner.
