Christchurch house repairs about a third complete
Just over 30,000 homes out of a total of 90,000 needing work have been repaired.

Fletcher EQR and Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority Minister Gerry Brownlee have praised the pace of residential repairs in Christchurch.
They cited a “milestone” of 30,000 full home repairs at a value of about $3.8 billion. These are houses with less than $100,000 of damage.
When NBR ONLINE asked Fletcher PR communications officer Barry Akers how many property repairs remained to be completed, he said about 60,000, meaning the programme is about one-third of the way through.
But most repairs so far have been to relatively undamaged homes in the west of the city and contractors have begun to focus on the more damaged and difficult-to-repair properties.
Some of these require significant piling work and in some cases it is unclear how it will be achieved in TC3 properties where deep piling or new “floating foundations” are required.
For example, it will be difficult to move some houses to allow for piling repairs.
Fletchers remains committed to completing work by the end of 2015.
