Christchurch, Queenstown, Rotorua Ramada brand hotels to open in 2015

Wyndham Hotel Group, one of the world’s largest hotel companies, with approximately 7540 hotels has announced that Safari Group, an Auckland-based development company, has signed franchise agreements for three new Ramada properties in New Zealand. 

The Ramada Suites Christchurch City, Ramada Hotel and Suites Remarkable Park in Queenstown and Ramada Lakeside Resort and Spa Rotorua further Wyndham Hotel Group’s strategic efforts to build the Ramada brand throughout the South Pacific and around the globe. Recently, the hotel group announced the addition of Ramada Kooralbyn Resort in Queensland, Australia, and Ramada Resort Shoal Bay in New South Wales, Australia, as well as plans to open Fiji’s first Ramada resort in Nadi Bay.

“We are committed to growing the Ramada brand throughout key markets in the region and are proud to add Christchurch, Queenstown and Rotorua to our portfolio,” says Barry Robinson, managing director of Wyndham Hotel Group in the South Pacific. “We see continued growth opportunities in New Zealand and we are actively working on a number of other projects throughout the country.”

The new properties join two Ramada hotels in New Zealand, in Paihia and Orewa. Globally, the Ramada network includes almost 830 hotels in approximately 50 countries.

“These are key developments for New Zealand, which will positively add to the country’s hotel industry and wider economy,” said owner of Safari Group, Robert Neil. 

The 44-apartment Ramada Suites Christchurch City will be located at 264-266 Tuam St, Christchurch and will offer a mix of studios, one and two-bedroom apartments as well as an onsite cafe. The $12.5 million hotel is scheduled to open by early 2015. 

Construction will also soon start on Ramada Hotel and Suites Remarkable Park in Queenstown, a 54-apartment $25 million development adjacent to the planned Remarkable Park’s multimillion dollar convention centre. Scheduled for completion in December 2015, Ramada Hotel and Suites Remarkable Park will offer hotel rooms, studio, one and two-bedroom apartments. Facilities include a restaurant/café and gym. A key tenant has been secured for the café and the complex will also include eight boutique retail stores.

A third development, Ramada Lakeside Resort and Spa Rotorua is also in early stages of development and is expected to open in December 2015. The $18.5 million development will offer a mix of 68 hotel rooms and one and two-bedroom apartments. It will feature a geothermal health spa, onsite restaurant and bar, swimming pool and conference facilities.
