The latest step toward more co-ordinated government information management is on the way, with a new cross-agency service announced today.
Dubbed ECMS, or Enterprise Content Management as a Service, the new tool is a cloud-based offering that will improve the ability of agencies to create, store, share, protect and manage their digital information, the government chief information officer Colin McDonald says.
The supplier panel of the service is being run by New Zealand firm Intergen, along with international companies Team Informatics and Open Text.
ECMS is one of a suite of cloud-based offerings being put together by the government. Already announced is an all-of-government desktop management service and an office productivitysuite is on the way, Mr McDonald says.
