The Colonial Motor Company Ltd said it made a satisfactory underlying profit though government tax changes forced it to report a bottom line loss.
The company reported a net loss of $1.24 million in the year to June 30, while the trading profit of $6.13 million was down 12.5 percent on last year.
The company is paying a final dividend of nine cents a share on October 26. This takes full year dividends to 15 cents a share, up from 12.8 cents last year.
The company said the underlying profit was satisfactory given the "big picture economic circumstances".
