The Commerce Commission has today given notice to Vodafone New Zealand to prepare a standard terms proposal for terminating mobile calls and text messages.

It comes after Communications and Information Technology Minister Steven Joyce accepted the commission’s recommendation to allow the regulation of mobile termination rates (MTR).

Vodafone is required to submit the standard terms proposal by 5pm, on 5 November 2010.

Following that the commission will seek submissions, then issue a draft standard terms determination, then do further industry consultation before making a final determination.
