AMP Capital appoints NZ managing director

Rebekah Swan will be managing director and head of clients for the New Zealand business.

Wed, 25 Nov 2020

AMP Capital has announced the appointment of Rebekah Swan as managing director and head of clients for its New Zealand business. She is currently New Zealand head of product and ESG investment specialist, having been with AMP Capital for almost 19 years.

AMP Capital global head of fixed income and chair of AMP Capital New Zealand (AMPCNZ), Grant Hassell said he was excited to appoint someone the calibre of Swan to this key role for AMP Capital.

“Rebekah is a highly valued and respected member of the AMP Capital team and has been central in bringing many of our global products and capabilities to our local clients. She is held in the highest regard by our clients as well as the market more broadly and is involved in many industry groups, supporting responsible investing,” he said.

Swan has held a number of roles within AMP Capital, having started in 2001 as a business analyst in the finance team. She then moved into the relationship management team, taking on more senior roles including head of distribution role. Her current role is ESG investment specialist for New Zealand, while continuing to work with clients leading on strategy by heading up the product team.

Swan is chair of AMPIM, the licensed entity of AMP Capital and will join the board of AMPCNZ. As chair, she will report to Hassell. The appointment is effective immediately, replacing Bevan Graham who is stepping down after nine years with the business, as announced earlier this year.

Previous roles at AMP Capital include head of distribution. Including Swan’s 19 years’ experience with AMP Capital she has more than 24 years’ proven expertise in investment markets, regulatory risk compliance and financial services. This comes from a diverse background and extensive leadership experience, including several years working overseas in the UK and Canada.

She is chair of the AMPCNZ ethics committee, chair and director of AMP Investment Management and is also a member Sustainable Finance Forum Technical Working Group and Boutique Investment Group.

Swan also holds a number of not for profit board roles outside of AMP Capital and is a chartered member of the Institute of Directors.
