Auckland Racing Club has appointed Margaret Germain chief financial officer.
Formerly finance lead at Microsoft, covering the Australia and New Zealand public sector, Germain is a qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience. She has worked in a broad range of roles across finance, including strategic planning, financial management and system/process improvement - both locally and globally.
After her education at Auckland University, Germain worked for Deloitte in both Auckland and Melbourne. Since then she has spent time in Australia, the Netherlands and Korea for Microsoft.
Auckland Racing Club chief executive Paul Wilcox says Germain’s wealth of commercial management experience is just what the club needs as it looks at its long-term growth.
“Germain’s background in commercial management will bring a lot of value to the club – helping us build a world-class facility that Kiwis can be proud of.”
She says, “the racing industry is undergoing a lot of change, so it’s an interesting time to join the team. I’m looking forward to using my experience to bring new blood into the club from a financial standpoint.”
