Global accountancy and advisory firm BDO has announced the appointment of Duncan Smith as national chief operating officer in New Zealand.
Originally from Rotorua, Smith’s experience includes leadership roles as COO of KPMG, senior leader of the FMA, and COO and CFO of MinterEllisonRuddWatts.
He is a qualified chartered accountant, with more than 20 years in management of professional services. Smith has worked extensively overseas including in Australia, Cayman Islands, Hungary, Russia and, most recently, South Africa.
BDO New Zealand chair David O’Connor said, “Duncan has a very strong professional services background and brings a wealth of international experience. We are delighted he has joined BDO and he will add significant value to our business and our clients.”
