The Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) Council has announced the 2026 president and vice-presidents for Australia and New Zealand.

Tasmanian Naomi Walsh FCA has been elected CA ANZ president for 2026, while Queensland’s Matthew Green FCA has been elected vice-president for Australia, and Wellingtonian Julia Fink FCA will serve another year as vice-president for New Zealand.

CA ANZ board chair John Palermo FCA congratulated Walsh, Green, and Fink and thanked outgoing 2025 president Grant Ellis FCA for his contribution to CA ANZ.

“Grant has led with integrity and vision during a milestone year for our organisation, meeting members all over the world and championing our new strategic direction to 2030. His presidency, vice-presidency – and indeed his decades of service to the profession – have been defined by his fierce pride in the CA designation, our ethics, and all the members we serve.

“On behalf of the board, council, and all of our members, I thank Grant for his many years of service and wish him every success for the future.”

Palermo congratulated Walsh on her election; she was presented with the president’s pin by Ellis: “Congratulations to Naomi [who] brings a wealth of experience in academia, governance, and business.

“In her position as academic lead, employability, at the University of Tasmania, and in her work with government and organisational boards, her commitment to developing accounting employment skills and supporting international students makes her an outstanding choice for president.

“She has been a cornerstone of our council and the Tasmanian Local Committee and never hesitates to provide guidance and advice to CA ANZ and our members.”

John Palermo, Naomi Walsh, and Julia Fink.

Walsh is academic lead employability at the College of Business and Economics at the University of Tasmania and non-executive director on several Tasmanian government and other organisation boards, including chair of audit, risk and governance committees.

Her previous experience includes senior finance and commercial management, mid-tier accounting firms, and consulting in Western Australia and the UK.

Naomi has served as 2025 CA ANZ vice-president Australia, is an ex-officio member of the Tasmanian Regional Council, and was previously a member of the CA ANZ Corporate Sector Advisory Committee. She is a member of the CA ANZ Female Focus Champions and has been involved in the CA Program as a facilitator and exam marker.

Fink is the chief financial officer at the climate change commission and a small business owner. She started her accounting career at Deloitte in Audit, moving into Deloitte Private.

Fink has been involved with CA ANZ since she was a provisional member, serving on the Women Accountants and Not for Profit Special Interest Group committees in Wellington, the Charities and Not for Profit Trans-Tasman Advisory Committee, and the Wellington Local Committee and as a New Zealand Councillor. Julia was instrumental in setting up the CA ANZ Charity Reporting Awards and the Charity Law, Accounting and Regulation Conference.

Green is a financial reporting, audit, and valuations specialist with substantial experience in advising directors and executives in meeting the complex requirements of ASX Listing Rules, Corporations Legislation, Australian Accounting Standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Green is a partner with Mazars and is based in Brisbane. Green has had the opportunity to work across various firms in the accounting industry, including the Big Four, ASX-listed companies, small firms, and the public sector; this experience has provided him with a deep understanding of the way the industry operates.
