DLA Piper has appointed Rob Macredie as a partner in the firm’s corporate team in New Zealand.
Macredie brings significant experience advising clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with a particular focus on energy transition projects, energy M&A, commercial structuring, and major transactions. He is widely regarded as a specialist in power purchase agreements and has acted on some of the country’s most high-profile renewable developments, including the financing and development of New Zealand's first five solar farms and a number of significant project acquisitions.
With a strong background in corporate and commercial law, Macredie advises on M&A, corporate governance, joint ventures, private capital, and capital raisings across a range of energy and related sectors. His cross-border perspective, developed while practising in Australia and the UK, complements his deep understanding of the New Zealand market and regulatory landscape.
Macredie’s appointment enhances the firm’s ability to support clients engaged in the development, investment and delivery of clean energy projects and infrastructure – an area of significant focus in New Zealand and globally.
“Clients have described Rob as a trusted adviser who understands the full picture – from strategic governance and capital structuring through to project and deal execution. His depth of experience across corporate, projects, and complex energy matters, combined with his commercial and regulatory nous, enhances our ability to support clients at every stage of their growth and transition” said Laura Scampion, country managing partner for DLA Piper in New Zealand.
Natasha Luther-Jones, DLA Piper’s global co-chair of energy, added: “We are delighted to welcome Rob to the firm. He shares our vision of supporting clients as they lead the shift to sustainable infrastructure and future-focused energy models. His appointment strengthens our cross-border capabilities and further deepens our presence in the region.”
Macredie joins DLA Piper at a time of growing demand for legal support across New Zealand’s energy, infrastructure, and private capital sectors. He is based in the firm’s Auckland office.
