The board of New Zealand’s largest locally owned life insurer Fidelity Life has appointed Scott Pickering as an independent director.
“Scott’s extensive experience in the insurance sector, combined with his impressive track record in governance, makes him a great addition to our board,” Fidelity Life interim chair Lindsay Smartt said. “His leadership and strategic insight will be invaluable as we begin deploying our new strategic plan and chart a course for long-term success.”
Pickering brings a wealth of governance and insurance experience to Fidelity Life.
His is currently on the boards of Kiwibank, IAG New Zealand, IAG Australia, and Bowls New Zealand; is an adviser to HealthNow; and was previously on the board of Chubb in New Zealand and Australia.
Pickering was chief executive of ACC New Zealand for more than eight years, where he led a major business transformation. He also held regional CEO roles with Willis Towers Watson in South Africa and Dubai.

Evolution Healthcare has appointed Scott Pickering as its new chairperson from July 1.
Pickering will take over from chair for the past two years Susan Paterson, who, on completion of her term, is stepping down to focus her efforts in an area of personal interest - the growing decarbonisation sector.
Evolution Healthcare Group CEO Simon Keating said they were excited to welcome Pickering, with his more than 30 years of global leadership and governance in healthcare, insurance, and financial services.
