Engineering consultancy Tonkin + Taylor Group has reshuffled its senior leadership team, with Richard Hancy replacing Tim Chadwick as head of its Australian business.
Hancy, who currently leads the group’s global business, had chosen to move into the new role, the employee-owned firm said today. He would continue to oversee its global business, but his main focus would be on Australia.
Chadwick will continue with the group as a director on its Australian board.
At the end of 2024, the group increased its Australian presence by about 50% following a merger with Queensland, NSW, and Victoria-based engineering consultancy Bligh Tanner.
It now operates three businesses in Australia: Tonkin + Taylor Australia, Chadwick Geotechnics, and Bligh Tanner. In New Zealand, it operates Tonkin + Taylor New Zealand and Geotechnics.
Group managing director Tim Fisher said Hancy would focus on strengthening client partnerships and advancing the group’s strategic goals of growth, innovation, and sustainability.
Tim Chadwick founded Chadwick Geotechnics in 1996 and sold the business to Tonkin + Taylor in 2006. He was the driving force behind establishing Tonkin + Taylor in Australia in 2011 and has been chief executive of its Australian business since 2023.
The company said his decision to remain on the board ensured continuity, stability, and ongoing support for the business and its clients.
