David Flacks is retiring as chair of Suncorp New Zealand, after 12 years on the board.
He has been chair of the ASX-listed insurer for the past six years, and will be replaced by current director Rob McDonald, who will take over the role from September 1.
Suncorp New Zealand CEO Jimmy Higgins praised Flacks’ "significant contribution".

"He has been instrumental in guiding our strategy and ensuring we are positioned to meet the challenges of a changing environment. David departs with the respect and gratitude of the entire Suncorp team."
McDonald is an experienced director who joined the Suncorp New Zealand board in March this year. He is the current chair of Contact Energy, a director of FleetPartners Group Limited, and previously served as the chief financial officer of Air New Zealand.

Suncorp New Zealand includes Vero Insurance and Vero Liability, as well as a joint venture, AA Insurance, with the New Zealand Automobile Association.
