New directors for Christchurch’s economic development agency
ChristchurchNZ says the appointments will drive strategic investment and sector productivity, ahead of a bumper major events calendar.
Mary Devine was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in 2013.
Christchurch’s economic development agency, ChristchurchNZ, has appointed two new independent directors to its board.
Mary Devine and Hamish Blackman will join the board from the date of its annual meeting, on November 27.
Devine is currently chief executive of Foodstuffs South Island and previously held CEO and managing director roles at EziBuy, Ballantynes & Co, and Hallenstein Glassons.
She has been a director for Meridian Energy, Christchurch City Holdings, IAG NZ, and Briscoes Group, and has also served on the boards of both Foodstuffs South Island and Foodstuffs New Zealand.
Hamish Blackman is a Christchurch-based investment executive with extensive experience in financial management and institutional governance.

He held several governance roles at the New Zealand Super Fund, and was previously chief investment officer at GreenMount Capital, where he led strategic investment initiatives backed by Ngāi Tahu Holdings. He was also director of private finance at investment banking firm Murray & Co.
Chair Lauren Quaintance said the agency was looking forward to working with both directors to ensure ChristchurchNZ continued to deliver the best possible value for ratepayers.
Nonexecutive director Toby Selman has stepped down from the board.
