The Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (Ibanz) has appointed Katherine Wilson as its next chief executive.
Wilson is currently head of advocacy at the Property Council of New Zealand, and will join Ibanz on September 8.
Ibanz acting president Sam Kerr said working within a membership organisation brought a particular set of challenges and opportunities, and Wilson's experience in similar organisations would be invaluable in her new role.
“These are complex and challenging times for the insurance industry and Katherine has the right mix of government relations and advocacy experience, strategic thinking and leadership skills to take our organisation forward," he said.
Wilson said that staying within the "membership space" was an important factor for her in accepting the appointment.
“I’m excited to be the voice for insurance brokers across New Zealand and look forward to connecting with members and working collaboratively to strengthen and support our industry."
